Secret Prisons—Acknowledgment

While it was widely understood that President Bush would release his administration’s plans on how to deal with the Guantanamo Bay detainees, it was not known that he would also reveal and acknowledge what has been widely believed and reported on: that his administration was responsible for the creation of secret prisons across the globe.[1]

The CIA program involves, according to Bush, a “small number” of individuals, including the alleged mastermind of 9/11, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.[2] Also being held at the secret prisons are Hambali,[3] who is desperately wanted by Indonesia; Ramzi Binalshibh; and Abu Zubaydah.[4]

In total, 14 prisoners held in secret prisons will be transferred to Guantanamo Bay.[5] After their transfer, there will no longer be any individuals being held in secret CIA custody, supposedly.[6]
